Located In The Hamlet of Caroline
Town of Caroline, Tompkins County, NY

This cemetery is no longer in site, a farmer long ago removed all headstones and plowed the
field up, the headstone of Susan Schoonmaker is now at the Caroline Town Hall.
It was found in a hedge row, not far from where the cemetery once was.

Note: Susan was the daughter of Philip & Mary (Earsley) Yaple
she was born October 10, 1801.

MARIA JOHNSON EARSLEY
daughter of HENRY & ELEANOR JOHNSON
Born 1746 in Holland, and died 1836 in Caroline, Tompkins County, New York.
She married in 1770 in Roxbury, Morris County, New Jersey, to Frances EARSLEY.
FRANCIS  EARSLEY was born 1744 in Dublin, Ireland, he died August 02, 1790 in Roxbury, Morris County, New Jersey.

 MARIA JOHNSON:
Maria (or Mariah) came with her parents to America when 12 yrs. old.
They landed in New York and settled in New Jersey, 28 miles from the city.
Her brother, Zacheus and her husband served in the Revolution.
When her husband died in 1790, she was left with 10 children, 5
boys and 5 girls. The youngest were twin girls, 9 months old.
In 1794, Widow Maria set out from Essex County, New Jersey with her eldest son,
John, and her brother, Zacheus Johnson, to find a new home.
It is on this farm she is buried.
 



Note:
It is unclear if this is the burial site of Phillip Yaple.
Record found in the Yaple family states he was married into the Earsley family and was buried on the farm.
It is unclear if this is the farm in question.  Phillip's family lived in Danby and are buried in Kings Cemetery, Ithaca.
No headstone has been found in that cemetery for Phillip.
